DHL's Grand Prix Car Freight

Car freight for the 2009 Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has been shipped and successfully delivered. DHL, along with the help of the Formula One (F1) Global Partner and Official logistics partner have successfully transported the equipment and materials necessary for the race. The related F1 cargo has been exclusively handled by the partnership between DHL and the Formula One Management (FOM).

A total of five 747 planes as well as 35 shipping containers were responsible in transporting the cargo to the first 2009 Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. For the duration of the racing period, DHL has successfully transported a total of 200 tons of machinery per race all across four continents, a total of 17 countries through land, air and sea. The transport company DHL is internationally renowned for providing quality service all over the globe and has offices in more than 200 countries and territories. They are fast and efficient, assuring their clients that they have a number of replacement vehicles that they can use locally in case one of their delivery vehicles breaks down.

Items transported include the vehicles used for racing as well as all necessary replacements, and communications equipment. DHL is also responsible for delivering items for use with the spectators and VIP such as tents, laptops, TVs, and even champagne. On top of this, DHL has also been responsible in accommodating to the last minute deliveries, the clearance process with the customs department and even transporting hazardous materials and fragile materials which require the temperature to be controlled.
